Douglas E. Gugger, 67, of Freeport, died Monday, April 19, 2010 in his home. He was born on June 26, 1942 in Freeport, the son of Kenneth and Helen (Lutz) Gugger.
Mr. Gugger was the director of theater and taught at Freeport High School and Jr. High School for over 30 years, retiring in 1994.
He married Anita Stukenberg on August, 29 1964 in Freeport.
His memberships included; Faith United Methodist Church, Unit #239 Bridge Board, America Contract Bridge League, Silver Life Master in Bridge, also Rockford, Dixon and Mt. Morris Bridge Clubs.
Survivors include his wife, Anita; two sons; Eric (Carolyn) Gugger of Plymouth, MN. And Chad (Chris) Gugger of Phoenix, AZ.; three brothers; David (Connie) Gugger of Daytona Beach, FL, James Gugger of Austin, TX and Roger Sue Gugger of Bonita, CA.; mother in law, Jean Stukenberg of Freeport; six grandchildren; Morgan, Isabel, Connor, Olivia, Benjamin and Samantha.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Faith United Methodist Church 10 a.m. Rev. John Wesley Lee will officiate.
Visitation will be April 30, Friday 4-7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs.
