Obituary for Bill Allen

Bill Allen, born August 17, 1933 to Annie Allen. He was called to rest Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Bill came to know Jesus Christ at an early age. He was under the care of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Deacons Care Ministry. Bill Allen moved to Freeport from Forrest City, Arkansas in 1967. He was employed at Burgess Battery and later worked at Kelly Springfield Tire Co. for 26 years. Bill was an avid gardener and loved fishing and hunting. Bill had a big heart as expressed by his love for his family, friends and neighbors. Bill was known by everyone who knew him as "Uncle Bill". If anything was to be given, Uncle Bill gave it. We know that he is rejoicing today because of the winning season of his beloved Cubs. Bill had two shinning stars that were a constant in his life, his granddaughters Morgan and Chelsea. Whenever he saw them his eyes lit up. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Sheila (Steven) Owens of Freeport. Two granddaughters Morgan and Chelsea Owens of Freeport. Two sisters Annie Mae (James) Ishmon of Freeport and Frances Mayweather of St. Louis, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, four brothers and one sister. We were truly blessed to have a man like Uncle Bill in our lives. Funeral services will be Monday, 1:00 P.M. in Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Freeport. Visitation will be Monday 11:00 A.M. until time of service in the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport.
