Obituary for Rosetta Aten

FREEPORT - Rosetta Aten, 74, went to the Lord on March 7, 2008, at her home in Freeport. Rose was born on Dec. 20, 1933, to Raymond and Luella Nuzum in Logan, Iowa.
She married James Aten on December 8, 1951.
Her passion in raising her family of five was unmatched.
Her children include: Pamela (James) Richards of Woodstock, Scot (Kate) Aten of Freeport, John (Vicki) Aten of Freeport, Chris (Greg) Simons of Pearl City, and Tara Aten of Bettendorf, Iowa.
She was an extremely important figure in the lives of her grandchildren: Renee (Arthur) Ariesen, Sean (Alicja) Richards, Adam (Paula) Aten, Cadet Brandon Aten, Heather Aten, Kyle (Cari) Simons, Kerri (Will) Simons, and Andrea and Dustin Capion.
She is survived by her sisters Rachel, Ramona, Doris, and Kae and her brothers Hershey, Will, Larry, and Wally; along with a number of nieces and nephews. Rose is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Arnie and Joe.

Rose worked for Micro Switch for 15 years before retiring to be with her family. She had a competitive nature. From playing the lottery to the CryptoQUIP or crosswords to a simple game of monopoly, Rose was going to win. Most of her free time was spent going to school functions for her grandchildren.
Rose's relationship with God was foremost in her life. A devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rose was a member of St. Mary Ladies Guild and division leader and participant in Perpetual Adoration.
A generous, giving person, she supported numerous charities. All these activities were fueled daily by her morning cup of coffee and cinnamon toast. She enjoyed gardening and was particularly proud of her orchids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Perpetual Adoration.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
