Obituary for Raymond J Ifert

Freeport, Ill. — Raymond J. Ifert, 84, of Freeport died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital.



Born Oct. 10, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of Clarence and Helen (Englehardt) Ifert. Raymond married Shirley Shilling Jan. 28, 1978, in Rockton.



Ray was a graduate of Freeport Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.



He was a member of Delta United Church of Christ in Delta, Wis.



Surviving are his wife, Shirley, and daughters, Cathy (Jon) Staben and Julie (Greg) Munda, all of Freeport; his son, David (Crystal) Ifert of Cedarville; sisters-in-law, Donna (Guy) O’Donnell of Painesville, Ohio, and Julie (Harv) Walton of Woodbury, Minn.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in July; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Phyllis.



Cremation rites have been accorded.



Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher of St. John United Church of Christ officiating.



Interment of his cremated remains will be at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.



A memorial fund has been established for Delta UCC in Delta.
