Myrl R.  Fisher
MYRL R. FISHER, 80 ROCKFORD - Myrl R. Fisher, 80, of Rockford died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, after a sudden illness. Born Sept. 25, 1930, in Rainelle, W. Va., to Samuel and Mattie (Jackson) Fisher. Myrl lived in Rockford for 56 years coming here from Chicago. Married Mabelann Clark on Nov. 1, 1952, in Rockford. He formerly was a technician and cameraman for 10 years when WREX-TV started broadcasting, he then was manager of the EDM department of Ingersoll Corp., and plant safety manager at Atwood Manufacturing and National Lock Co. Myrl retired in 1981 and owned and operated Creative Imaginer Remodeling & Construction. Served in the 2nd Indian Head Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Member of Court Street United Methodist Church, life member of KWVA and Loves Park American Legion. In earlier years, Myrl was active in the United Way and On the Water Front. Survivors include wife, Mabelann; daughter, Cindy Fisher of Rockford; sons, Stephen Fisher of Camp Sherman, Ore., Daniel (Leni) Fisher of Spring, Texas, and Tom (Suzette) Fisher of Crystal Lake; grandchildren Sarah, Megan, Katie, Tommy, Billy, Kelsey and Natalee; great-grandchildren, Austin, Lacy, Aaron and Adam; sister, Alice Faye Fisher of West Virginia; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Suzanne) Clark of Madison, Wis. Predeceased by parents; one sister; and one brother. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan, 6, in Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court St., with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time; the Rev. Keith Kelsey-Powell, pastor, will officiate. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, donations to the KWVA and Court Street United Methodist Church Music Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements by Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home and Cremation Service Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road.
