Obituary for Carol J. Hornung (Phillips)

CAROL JOYCE HORNUNG, 82 FREEPORT - Carol Joyce Hornung, 82, of Freeport, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, in Freeport. Born January 8, 1933, in Pearl City; the daughter of Ferdinand and Luva (Aurand) Phillips. She married Irvin E. Hornung July 1, 1951. She and her husband owned and operated Irvin Motors for over 45 years and in retirement opened Yesterday's Antiques. She and her husband enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets. Surviving are her husband, Irvin of Freeport; her children, Dawn (David) Reed of Cedarville, Randall (Debra) Hornung of Freeport, and Todd (Laura) Hornung of Freeport; her grandchildren, Christopher (Michele) Hornung, Chad Hornung, Carianne (Chad) Thrasher, Tamara (Brent) Ackerman, Kristin Hornung, Jenna (Pastor Blake) Canterbury, and McKenna Reed; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother in-law, Richard (Althea) Hornung of Cedarville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Walker Mortuary. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a gathering for friends and relatives from 1 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at Walker Mortuary.
