Obituary for Margaret R. Halstead (Euler)

MARGARET R. HALSTEAD, 90 FREEPORT - Margaret R. Halstead, age 90, of Freeport, went peacefully at home to be with her heavenly Father on January 11, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 11, 1926 in Freeport, IL., the daughter of Edward P. and Laura (Crase) Euler. Margaret married the love of her life, Don Halstead, on April 14, 1944 at Main Street Church. Margaret was a stay at home mom until Don was accidently electrocuted on July 7, 1966 at which time she went to work at Newell Company. After retiring, she went to work at Malcolm Eaton until she reached the age of 80. Margaret was a former member of main Street Church, but attended Park Hills Evangelical Free. Margaret's faith in God saw her through many difficult times. Survivors include her son Clark (Judith) Halstead of Pecatonica, her daughter Nancy (Maurice) Vorwald of Freeport. 7 grandchildren; Lori Vorwald, Scott (Becca) Vorwald, Debra (Rob) Moe, Donna (Scott) Phillips, Don (Jennifer) Halstead, Charles (Ashley) Halstead, and Josh (Theresa) Halstead, 13 great-grandchildren; Tim Vorwald, Evan and Channing Vorwald, Danyella and Devan Ortiz, Brad (Kaley) and Samantha Phillips, Gage and Riley Halstead, Jackson, Oliver, and Harper Halstead, Mekhi Halstead, 1 step-great-grandson, Tyler Riem, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is 1 sister, Virginia Kissinger of Meza, Arizona, and several niece and nephews. She also leaves behind a special friend, Annie Nelson. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Don, parents Edward and Laura, three brothers; Kenneth, Norman, Paul, and four sisters; Lauretta, Lois, Genevieve and Doris. The funeral service will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday morning from 9 a.m. until time of funeral. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
