Obituary for Harry Jay Heidel

Harry J. Heidel, 67, Rockford, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born June 29, 1947, in Freeport, the son of Harvey J. and Violet B. (Miller) Heidel. Harry served in the Air Force attaining the rank of Sargent. He married Brenda C. Demmon in Rockford on December 10, 1966. Harry worked for the United States Postal Office since 1973, retiring as the Postmaster of Davis. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #173 in Cherry Valley, Scottish Rites, Freeport Consistory, Tebala Shrine Temple where he was the Air Squadron. He was a member of the AMVETS, Post #676, in Durand, NARFE (National Active Retired Federal Employees), past President and member of NAPUS (National Association of Postmasters of the United States), League of Postmasters, and was an avid Bears and Cubs fan. Survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his sons, Gregory Heidel of Chicago, Stephen (Julie) Heidel of Roscoe and Christopher Heidel of Rockford; his grandchildren, Bryan (Hailee), Joshua, Sarah, Jared, Olivia and Sophia Heidel; his great-granddaughter, Blair; his broher, Danny (Toni) Heidel of Stillman Valley; his 2 nieces, Amanda Heidel and Rebecca (Ben) Irvin; and great niece and nephew, Nevaeh Heidel and Kaylee Irvin. Predeceased by this parents. Funeral services will be at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Reverend Dean Park officiating. Burial in Oakland Cemetery in Freeport, Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service on Saturday.
