Obituary for Leonard P. Hasse

LEONARD 'BUD' HASSE, 87 FREEPORT - Leonard "Bud" Hasse, 87, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2014 at Stephenson Nursing Center. Preceded in death by the love of his life, Carlyne "Squirt" Hasse. Survived by daughters, Mary Kay (Lloyd) Barker, Debbie (Craig) Spooner; grandsons, Chris and Matt Spooner. Also surviving are nephews, cousins and loving friends. Leonard was a lifelong Freeport native and loved the history of the city. He worked with his father, Paul, in construction. Build-ing many of the older homes in Freeport. Bud loved re-modeling and helping people the most. Leonard served for the Army in WWII. He came home to a blind date set up by his army buddy, Jerry and his girlfriend, Darlene. Bud and Carlyne were mar-ried for 63 years. There is not much he enjoyed more than coffee with "the guys" every morning. Thank you guys for all your support. Ernie-"Butch", you have al-ways been special to Dad and helped us and him through this more than you will ever know. A very spe-cial thank you to the nurses at Stephenson Nursing Cen-ter for their loving care. Also to FHN hospice for their support. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday February 7, 2015 at Burke Tubbs Fu-neral Home. The Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Visi-tation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Family re-quests donations to FHN Hospice, Stephenson Nurs-ing Center, or Memorial of your choice.
