Obituary for Richard Alan Ditzler

RICHARD 'DICK' ALAN DITZLER, 84 FREEPORT - Richard "Dick" Alan Ditzler, 84, of Freeport passed away at Manor Court on Thursday, July 24th, 2014. Richard was born in Freeport, IL on June 7th, 1930, to Glenn and Jonnie Mae (Dixon) Ditzler. Richard attended Freeport High School, graduating in 1948. On December 26th, 1991, he was united in marriage to Lillian Stees. Dick was an electrician since high school, working for Morse Electric for many years and managed the Morse shop in Princeton, IL for 15 years. A proud 55 year member of IBEW. After retiring, Dick spent 8 years as City of Freeport electric (heating and air conditioning) inspector. Retired local union 364 Electrician, IBEW 364-Rockford. Dick loved to fish, boat, golf and play cards. In later years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. Together in marriage they had 5 children, Debbie Larsh of Massachusetts, David (Gianna) Ditzler of Freeport, Dawn (Todd) Schwarzkopf of Kankakee, Donna (Tom) Herring of Pearl City, Craig Stees of Freeport; 12 wonderful grandchildren; and 10 precious great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and son, David. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29th, at 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, 2525 W. Stephenson St., in Freeport. Entombment with be at Oakland Mausoleum. Pastor Mark Balmer will be officiating. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.shcwarzfh.com.
