Obituary for Tom Diffenderfer

Tom Diffenderfer, 70 years old of Lena, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1943 in Lanark, the son of Charles and Edna (Krusey) Diffenderfer and attended Lanark High School. Tom and Pat Martz were married by the Rev. Merle Hawbecker at the Cherry Grove Parsonage on Dec. 3, 1960. He was a retired employee of Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. Tom attended Grace Free Methodist Church in McConnell. He enjoyed softball, basketball, football, and horse racing. He was a huge Tiger and Lions fan. Surviving are his wife, pat of Lena; his children, Brian Diffenderfer of Winslow, Brenda Rothschadl of Lena,Darin 9Jackie) Diffenderfer of Lena, Stacy Diffenderfer of Orangeville, and Barry (Kelly) Diffendefer of Brodhead; fifteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Diffenderfer of Winslow; his sister, Betty Derrer of Shannon, Dorothy (Ray) Lower of Lanark, Carol (Rex) Sturtevant of Lancrk, and Karen (David) Sloan of Lanark; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him is death were his parents a son, Bradley and an infant brother. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. in Freeport with Pastor Paul Alf of the Grace Free United Methodist Church in McConnell officiating. Entombment will be at the Oakland Mausoleum in Freeport. The visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the chapel. The family request that friends and family dress casual.
