LOIS GOCHNAUR, 93 TUCSON, Ariz. - Lois Gochnaur of Tucson, formerly of Freeport, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Tucson, Arizona, 4 days after her 93rd birthday. Lois was born at home on March 26, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Myra Payne. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois. She attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. After college, she was hired by United Airlines as a stewardess during WWII. That is where she met her future husband, Orlando M. Gochnaur (Jackson) of Freeport, Illinois. He was a pilot for United Airlines. They were married April 14, 1944. They lived in Downers Grove, Illinois until 1959, when they moved to Freeport so Lois could help run the family business, Gochnaur's Ready to Wear Clothing and Millinery on Main Street. Orlando died in 1989, and Lois moved part- time to Scottsdale, Arizona and then permanently to Tucson, Arizona to be with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Cristine Gochnaur Greene; granddaughter, Haley Greene Ochoa (Stephen); great- granddaughter, Tennyson Ochoa; and former son-in-law, Bill Greene. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum. Following the service there will be a gathering at 4 p.m. at the Freeport Country Club.
