Thelma J. Neberman, 90, of Freeport died on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital.

Born on Oct. 8, 1921, in Ridott, she was the daughter of Roy and Grace (Shockey) Rumelhagen. She married Earl Neberman on Sept. 12, 1947, and he died on Jan. 13, 1979.

Thelma worked at Burgess Battery, then as a Teacher’s Aide for District 145. She was with the Stephenson County Circuit Clerk’s Office for eight years, and was a manager in Freeport for Rockford Life Insurance Company.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Douglas) Martin of Lena; her sister, Lois Aurand of Freeport; two grandchildren, Angie Martin and Brandon Martin, both of Lena; and one great-grandchild, Jade Gabel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be a gathering from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Nov. 29, at the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Peace.

Interment of her cremated remains will be at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.

A memorial fund has been established for St. John United Church of Christ.
